Skiing in spring
Get up the mountain earlier.
Due to the cold nights and warm days in spring, a soft layer, known as firn, forms on the firm snow surface. This type of "powder snow" is best enjoyed in Ischgl in the morning before the slopes of the Silvretta Arena become snowier due to the sunlight.
Stay longer on the mountain.
If you can cope well with the softer slopes in the afternoon, take advantage of the warmer temperatures and longer days of spring for a relaxing day of sun skiing in the Silvretta Arena.
Make sure you have sufficient sun protection.
Good ski goggles or sunglasses and sun cream with a higher protection factor against UV radiation are particularly important for spring skiing.
Maintain your skis.
The slushy snow in spring wears out the ski base. You should therefore wax your skis more often.
Take the onion as your model.
While it is usually already spring-like warm in the valley, there is often still a cool wind blowing on the mountain. Therefore, use the onion system and wear several layers. A ski jacket, helmet and gloves are also a must in spring.
